Creative Journey - Front Cover

As we can see at the start of the creative journey I started with three photos that i took that i believed were the best for what I wanted to do. They were clear and defined photos that you could see Jack and tell it was him.

So then i looked at album covers with an image of someone on the front. I came across the Jamie T single one and like the use of the dark colours and the white text as it was defined and you could clearly read it.

I then moved onto the Arctic Monkeys album cover and like the black and white effect used on the photo, again they used the white defining text that was clear and stood out. The photo used on the front cover was like the one I am looking to use for my front cover.

Throughout the rest of the creative journey I explore the back back ground and white writing and noted that it was clear to read. I liked this use of white text and thought they i needed to use this on my front cover.

I then came across the cover photo for the single that we were covering for the music video. It is the photo of Aiden Grimshaw with a green floral background. This photo is like most of mine where i have a clear defined artist as the front cover.

So having looked at the different front covers i have come up with 3 potential front cover that i like and that reflect areas of the journey in them. One of these will be my front cover that i choose to put on my digipak.

Intertextuality

I must disclose that this work wasn't indeed produced by me or Jack but I believe that it gives you a complete rundown on inter-textuality in music videos. Full credits to Megan Edwards.

Audience Survey Analysis

In this post I will be analysing the data we gained from our audience research through our survey. this information will allow us to gain some knowledge on what our audiences preferences and what they are into.

From the first question we asked we wanted to gain a knowledge of how old our audience were going to be. And by the results we can see that most of our audience are going to between the age of 15 & 17, obviously there will be people that didn't take the test so we don't know the ages of them but this gives us a fairly good idea. Using this data we can target our video to this audience and put elements into our video that our audience can relate to and will be of their interests.

In our second question we asked what genre of music they liked, to this we got the results that the majority liked the Indie/Alternative genre of music. This is good to know as our song that we have chosen to do our music video on is from the Indie/Alternative genre so we will be able to target this audience. Using this data we will now be able to put some of the Indie/Alternative concepts of a music video that are common to attract our target audience.

Our third question was; what type of music video do you like the most. To this question we got the answers that the majority like the illustrative music videos, again this is good news as our music video will be an illustrative music video therefore we will be able to aim our video to the target audience we have set. Using this data we can make sure that our video includes all aspects of a illustrative music video.

The fourth question we asked what effects they liked on a music video. The highest majority of answers were for black and white. This is great to know as the video we are trying to replicate is all in black and white. We will be trying to adopt this effect into our video hopefully so to know that black and white is a favoured effect is good. using this data we now know that the target audience like the black and white effect so it will be good to use it.

Our fifth question  was out of the following who is your favourite artist, the majority was shared between Aiden Grimshaw and Jamie T, this is good as our two artists that we were debating between were Jamie and Aiden so for them to both be liked by our target audience is good. Using this data we now know that we will have a good target audience for our song.

The sixth question was do you watch many music videos, and the majority answered yes. This is good as our target audience will be able to watch our music video and they will be interested in watching the video. Using this data we can see that making a video we will have people of our target audience to watch the video.

Finally our seventh question was; which song do you like the most. This question was answered evenly between Virtually Married & Don't You Find. This is good to know this as which ever song we picked we would of been targeting some of our audience. Using this data we can see that our audience like the song that we have picked to do our music video on.
