Shots Of Prospective Video Locations

The Pool Table

This scene will be used for the time lapse in the music video. We feel as though it will have enough going on in the shot to cover up the time lapse scene. The time lapse will be covered up by the lyrics on screen so the time lapse will be on in the background. There is a good amount of lighting and range of lighting, there are also props such as a sofa, a pool table, etc...

The Rooftop

This scene will be James facing off into the distance it won't be a very short scene. Being on top of a roof allows for a good back drop for the scene. the scene will have lyrics over the top of it so it will be used as a background.

The Car

The car scene will also be a time lapse scene that appears twice in the music video. The scene will like the pool table scene be a time lapse so there needs to be something going in the background and the car journey will provide that.

Bouskell Park

The park scene is quite a log stint in the video. In the scene we will be walking around the park and the music and lyrics will be on the top of the video again like always.

Evidence Of Storyboarding

Here below is the slideshare that contains the evidence of the storyboarding.
This process taught us a lot about how many shots are actually in a music video and also about the framing of each and everyone song.
Each box contains what shot number it is in chronological order and also the time the shot will be on for.
we understand our artistic skills aren't much to be proud off but we know what each shot means as we have written notes to each shot which you may find below the slide share.

Audience Survey Analysis

In this post I will be analysing the data we gained from our audience research through our survey. this information will allow us to gain some knowledge on what our audiences preferences and what they are into.

From the first question we asked we wanted to gain a knowledge of how old our audience were going to be. And by the results we can see that most of our audience are going to between the age of 15 & 17, obviously there will be people that didn't take the test so we don't know the ages of them but this gives us a fairly good idea. Using this data we can target our video to this audience and put elements into our video that our audience can relate to and will be of their interests.

In our second question we asked what genre of music they liked, to this we got the results that the majority liked the Indie/Alternative genre of music. This is good to know as our song that we have chosen to do our music video on is from the Indie/Alternative genre so we will be able to target this audience. Using this data we will now be able to put some of the Indie/Alternative concepts of a music video that are common to attract our target audience.

Our third question was; what type of music video do you like the most. To this question we got the answers that the majority like the illustrative music videos, again this is good news as our music video will be an illustrative music video therefore we will be able to aim our video to the target audience we have set. Using this data we can make sure that our video includes all aspects of a illustrative music video.

The fourth question we asked what effects they liked on a music video. The highest majority of answers were for black and white. This is great to know as the video we are trying to replicate is all in black and white. We will be trying to adopt this effect into our video hopefully so to know that black and white is a favoured effect is good. using this data we now know that the target audience like the black and white effect so it will be good to use it.

Our fifth question  was out of the following who is your favourite artist, the majority was shared between Aiden Grimshaw and Jamie T, this is good as our two artists that we were debating between were Jamie and Aiden so for them to both be liked by our target audience is good. Using this data we now know that we will have a good target audience for our song.

The sixth question was do you watch many music videos, and the majority answered yes. This is good as our target audience will be able to watch our music video and they will be interested in watching the video. Using this data we can see that making a video we will have people of our target audience to watch the video.

Finally our seventh question was; which song do you like the most. This question was answered evenly between Virtually Married & Don't You Find. This is good to know this as which ever song we picked we would of been targeting some of our audience. Using this data we can see that our audience like the song that we have picked to do our music video on.

Examples of Text & Videos

Here are some example music videos that I personally like. they are also of the genre that we are going to be doing our music video, that of the indie/alternative genre.

Jamie T - Don't You Find

The first video that I like is Jamie T - Don't You Find, this video is a performance based video with Jamie playing the guitar whilst singing the lyrics to the song. This correlation makes the video a very performance based video. The girl that dances during the chorus provides more performance and something different to just Jamie playing the guitar.

Aiden Grimshaw - Curtain Call

This second video is by Aiden Grimshaw and the song is called 'Curtain Call'. This music video is a amplification as the lyrics are amplified by what happens in the video. The video contains a car scene which is a iconic Aiden Grimshaw scene for a music video. If we were to adopt and Aiden Grimshaw song then we would have to include one of these shots.

Chosen Song

The Song that we have decided to use is Aiden Grimshaw - Virtually Married.
We have picked this song because we think that the way the song progress' would really suit an illustrative video with a hint of narrative, this is exactly what we were aiming for. Also the styling would really suit the actors we have in mind. We will take a lot from the video produced by Aiden Grimshaw's Virtually Married. An example of which being the feature of lyrics and also numerous special effects.
